These were the two mountain lions at the Living Desert Reserve in Palm Desert, CA. That was Reno, on the ground, bothering the female. She is still alive, but Reno passed away, at age 19, last year. He was a real clown, but a couple of times, he did injure the little female, so she may be happy to finally be alone. Camera Critters for September 19, 2009. Enjoy your weekend!

They are beautiful animals. I just wouldn't want to come across one on a trail.
Thanks for sharing.
You are right to be cautious. At least two female joggers here in So. California have been killed by mountain lions. They are DEADLY and SILENT. One time, hubby and I were walking in the forest in the Mogollon Rim, in Arizona. We only had our cameras with us. He grabbed my arm and said, "I don't mean to scare you, but don't RUN! SOMETHING is stalking us." He said the hairs on the back of his neck raised and he could FEEL something watching us. He swears it was a mountain lion. We turned around and hiked out. Thank goodness he grew up in the forests of Pennsylvania and was an alert hiker! We could have been breakfast.
One time, before THAT incident, I used to hike alone here in the desert. I was hiking up a trail leading into the mountains and asked some people if I could walk with them as they had just mentioned that we should all be on the lookout for mountain lions. Now, I NEVER hike alone!
