Bird's nest in cholla ~~Cactus Monday 011011

I'm always intrigued by cholla cactus and every time I see one, I bend over to see if there is a birds nest in it. Yup. this one, even though it was ony 3 feet high, had a bird's nest! The spines of the cholla prevent predators from invading the nest. And, LOOK at those spines! OUCH! Cactus Monday for January 10, 2011.

I have seen this before. I learned right quick not to lean in too far for a picture or a peek at what is going on in there. I think it is amazing how those little birds do this. Happy Cactus Monday.

Isn't it interesting how they can live in those prickly painful cactus??? I did a post featuring a little handmade felt monkey swinging in a cactus, who is not bothered by the spines at all! Hey...it's fiction, but what the hey! Happy CM to you!
