We drove up through Pioneertown a couple of weekends ago after leaving Joshua Tree national park. There was a huge fire through this area a few years ago, as you can tell from this dead joshua tree. There are many, many trees like this one along the road. It's sad to see and I remember seeing signs in the town that stated "Flooding due to fire". I hope the area grows back soon. I saw Joshua Tree forest on a trip from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. It was totally awesome. Too bad fires come along and ruin things.
However, this image is a reminder to us to be careful with our matches and campfires etc.
