We just returned home from a 5 day vacation to Utah with our daughter and son-in-law. One of the places we visited was Zion National Park. If you haven't been to Zion, you park your car or RV at the visitor center and take a shuttle bus (propane powered) to various stops in the park. This cuts down on car emissions in the park and each shuttle can take 28 carloads of people. They run every 6-8 minutes all day, so you don't have to worry about catching the next one! We took it all the way to the last stop and worked our way back to the visitor center. This monolith is the Big Ben outcropping. I added the photo with the tree to give it some perspective. At this stop, you look straight up at the cliff! Very humbling, believe me! Sunday Stills Challenge for June 20, 2010.

Thanks for the info on the park. its great to know you don't have to rush around to make the shuttle on time. this is defiantly a park I'd like to visit.

Zion isn't like the Grand Canyon (south rim) where there are hundreds of people! ACK! Zion is more laid back. And, yes you can relax, take your time, and ENJOY the views! They are spectacular! There is a little town, Springvale, which is right outside the park and it has many motels and hotels for tourists. It's a cute little town, too! I'll be posting more pics this week from our trip.

I need to go back to Zion; I went on Labor Day weekend of last year and the crowds were stifling. The shuttle bus is good and great for the environment, but on busy weekends, it just means more people at the same places...
It's gorgeous country regardless.
That is quite a view and looks like quite a hike.
