The Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs areas both have these huge wind turbines. They are located by Interstate 10 and Highway 62, which goes to Morongo Valley. On a windy day, they are turning. On a calm day, they are not! On this day, in spite of the weather, most were sitting quietly. Sometimes when we drive by and get off at Whitewater, we can actually hear them going "swoosh, swoosh, swoosh"! That's My World for Tuesday, February 24, 2009.

I have seen these windmills. We have them in Oregon also, but the fields with these windmills are just awesome! There are so many! LOL I like them. A lot of people do not. I think they should start to paint them different colors. You know, Brighten up the place! LOL
Beautiful photos! It's wonderful to see California harnessing renewable energy. I know they've been using wind turbines in your desert for many years. Hopefully AZ and other states will catch on and follow their example someday.
I love wind turbines. Great photos.
We also have alot of these wind farms where I am in Oklahoma. I think they're very majestic, but especially set against your mountains, which we do not have!
I really love these photos. Quite scenic! They would be good entries for Skywatch Friday photo meme. And the acacia below I can almost smell. Nice ones!
I like these shots. It's so nice to have those snowy mountains as a backdrop.
Wind farms are a nice cheap way of creating power, we have some out here too, but not so many in one place, still I am sure in time there will be. We also have the same things in vineyards to protect the grapes from frost.
They make a very nice photo.
