It is Spring here in the desert and as I took my walk yesterday morning, I noticed two new nests in the cholla along my walking route. They have popped up in the last week! I know because I always walk along the same trail and these haven't been there before. Look how tight the top and bottom ones are. NOBODY is going to mess with those nests! NOPE! That is amazing! I haven't ever seen a nest like this...now I will keep my eyes open around the cholla cacti.
I love the desert, but just to visit and admire. In the spring it plays havoc with my allergies. But still I think it is a fascinating place. We were going out to see the desert in bloom (traveling from the coast), but the day we had decided upon there was snow warning for the mountains! After that my husband had to be away so we will have to wait until next year. But I think the desert has a beauty and a magic all its own.
Wow, great defensive place for a nest! Nope, I wouldn't mess with it there!
