On one of my morning walks, I came across this desert shrub growing right OUT of the granite cliff! These shrubs, encilia, or brittle brush, dot our desert landscape and local mountains. However, they also seem to grow right out of the granite cliffs! I'm sure they survived our 7.2 earthquake, which occurred yesterday near Mexicali. We've had over 30 aftershocks since, including two that I've felt this morning. Mellow Yellow for 040510.
